I did a half day float today on the Trinity River, not getting on the water until around 1:30. We pushed through a lot of good runs cherry picking the ones I have the most success in. The weather conditions were outstanding with temps in the 60's. The river is a very happy ecosystem with an abundance of salmon and steelhead. The last couple hours before sunset we encountered an epic October Caddis hatch which played right into my plan of attack. We ended up hooking three adults skating an October Caddis pattern (which none came to hand) and landed a few juveniles. All in all it was a very productive afternoon spey sesh.
