Today was all about swinging flies for my guests Steve and John. Both were armed with new 3wt two-handed rods - and both their rods got a great workout! The grab was on right away and stayed very consistent except for a short-lived lull mid-afternoon. After moving to a new run, things turned on again for Steve and John. They both hooked a ton of fish, with most being in the 10” – 12” range, including some hatchery steelhead. John hooked into a very large fish that gave him a few epic runs before spitting the fly – this was the quintessential, “one that got away.” It was a great day with great guys, and they were already talking about their next trip.
