Feather River: , by Ben Thompson: Feather Steelhead: 3 stars Had a solid day on the Lower Feather River with a single angler client. All of the steelhead we caught were wild. There are already a decent amount of salmon redds and the steelhead are eating eggs. There has also been some quality hatches going off throughout the day. There was a decent amount of fish sipping dries at times, and it seems consistently around this time of year through the first week of October, there is a window of dry fly opportunities to catch steelhead on small dries which can make for a great time. While some people may be worried about the low water, it is totally fishable and the water is coming out of the bottom of the dam very cold. October and November are the two best months of the year out here in my opinion and it is already shaping up to be a good season. Next 10 open days for Ben Thompson: Dec 10, 12, 13, 17, 20, 21, 22, 23, Jan 5, 6 |
