Lower Sac: , by Andrew Harris: 4 stars

The Lower Sac fished really well for my guests Steve and Tami today.  Flows bumped up to 7600cfs overnight but that did not seem to bother the fish!  Today was Tami's first day of drift boat fly fishing.  She figured out the casting and mending drill right away and had an incredible day of hooking and landing big Lower Sac rainbows.  By the end of the day Steve and Tami had boated a lot of wild rainbows up to 19".  We had a good PMD hatch mid-morning.  I saw a big salmonfly on the water today, too.  I'm seeing more big tan caddis every day - they will be getting more numerous with the warmer weather.

We're booking a lot of walk/wade trips on the Upper Sac, McCloud, and Hat Creek for May and June.  I highly recommend adding a day on the Lower Sac on the front or back-end of one of these trips.  The river is fishing great!
