Yuba River: , by Mat Squillante: Day trip and Dries!: 4 stars Recently, I've been on the Yuba, Lower Sac, Trinity and North Fork Feather. The client's who've fished it, have all enjoyed what the Yuba's been offering up. For those who can't escape for an entire weekend, it's an easy day trip from San Francisco. It's also far less crowded than all the other, big name, rivers. Think peace and quiet verse lots of company. A rare commodity that's especially hard to find this time of year. With salmon in the river, action has been steady most days. Eggs and bugs have been successful from start to finish. As a nice fall treat, we've had decent dry action to split up the nymphing. Rising fish have offered fun and challenging opportunities in smooth, technical water that tests casting and presentation skills. Getting one to the net isn't easy but some have enjoyed their well earned reward. We don't always get a large return but the Yuba does host a run of steelhead. You can expect mostly resident fish but there's always a reasonable chance you'll hook into a hot chromer. Tom Page has also been on the river with similar reports of good fishing. If you're looking for a peaceful day on the water, with good fishing, I think you'll be happy with your time on the Yuba.
