Great

Had a great day out on the Southern Oregon coastal rivers recently. We timed it perfect late last week and hooked some impressive Nickel Plated winter run Steelhead. But now the rivers have received to much rain and it looks like we have to wait until the river systems clear and drop. Keep your eyes on the weather forecast, once we dry out a little these rivers are going to go off!

The fishing has been pretty good on the Rogue River this week. The weather has been great with cold mornings and warm afternoons. It looks like were going to get some much needed rain this weekend. This rain should move the fish around and fishing should turn on even more!

The weather and the Steelhead fishing is good right now on the Rogue River. Several pulls on the swing flys with the long rod but couldn't seal the deal. George caught this one on a dead drifted nymph. It looks like the weather is going to continue to be nice through the weekend, nice.

I fished with the Cooks brothers the last few days on the lower Sacramento River with great success. Trout averaging in size around 17. We even landed a small Seeelhead outside one of the creek inlets. This egg grab should continue throughout October so try to make it up to the Redding area for some great trout fishing!

I had the pleasure to guide Janice and Sally from the Happy Hookers ladies fly fishing club last week. Lady luck played out with the weather, perfect conditions with sunny skies and light winds. The fishing was again great with rainbow trout in the 16-20 inch range.

The Fall Season is a special time for fishing guides. We start getting out of the hot, long days of summer and into warm days and cold nights. The fishing is just GREAT now with the weather change, and the only thing that could make it better is dropping the wind so the dry fly fishing picks up. If you can break away, get up and go fishing!

With good numbers of Steelhead moving into the Rogue River we set our sights on the upper Rogue right now. The Salmon season closed on the Upper Rogue September 1st, so lots of room to fish. I've been hooking nice fish in the early morning using traditional swing techniques, but I'm sure you could hook some fish on dead drift techniques also. As we move into the prime time for the summer run Steelhead we will also get into more fishing pressure. Last year I guided a number of days in November with great success and no pressure, so if you can't make it to Southern Oregon in October try some Steelhead fishing on the Rogue in November

The month of June is shaping up just like it should, great fishing and great weather. Lots of summer time hatches are appearing in the mornings and evenings and Confluence Outfitters is taking advantage of those hatches every day. If you can break away give us a call and get up to northern California for some fantastic fishing

Great

Just finished up three days of guiding my good client George from the Danville area. Although it's been a bit windy for dry fly fishing, the nymph fishing was excellent all day long. If you get the chance get up to the Inter-Mountain area for some fantastic trout fishing!

I'm spending the month of April on the Lower Sacramento River near Redding. The fishing has been great the past few days and it looks like it will continue through the month. If your interested in fishing the Lower Sac give Confluence a call and we can get you into some great Rainbow Trout fishing.

Although the fishing on the Applegate has improved, low clear water conditions is making the Steelhead fishing a challenge. Both traditional swing fishing as well as dead drift sub surface fishing has produced several fish per day. The weather outlook is calling for rain Tuesday night so the fishing should get real good for the remainder of the month. Remember the Applegate closes on March 31 and I still have a few days available the last week of March. Give us a call at Confluence and try fishing this small Steelhead river.

Okay

I drifted and fished the lower part of the Applegate River on Tuesday with Confluence guide Gino Benero. The weather was cold and raining and the fishing was tough. The good thing about the day were the numbers of fish we saw on the move up the river. We only hooked one fish but we thought they were more intrested in moving than eating our flies. The week ahead looks like great conditions for fishing the Applegate and Rogue Rivers. Both Gino and I have some dates available, so if you can break away you should try some Southern Oregon Steelhead fishing! The photo is the one success story we had for the day.

Good

I just got back from fishing two Southern Oregon coastal rivers with Gino. The first day was spent on an eight mile float about an hour from our base camp. Low, clear water conditions made the fishing a bit tough but Gino did land a nice buck in the eight pound range. The last day we drifted another small coastal river a few miles further north. This river has more natural color so the fishing was a bit easier. I hooked a fish around 26, Gino hooked two nice fish. Both rivers fished good but low water made it more difficult than normal. The weather forcast calls for rain by the middle of next week. This will bring the rivers up and more fish into the system. If you can get away you have to try these coastal rivers!
