Captain Gino Bernero
Gino Bernero has been guiding in northern California and southern Oregon since 2001.
He and his wife Janet live just minutes from the Applegate River in Grants Pass, Oregon.
In 2007 Gino created Confluence Outfitters with help from partners Andrew Harris and Jon Hazlett.
Gino loves all of our greater and lesser salmonid friends but his real passion is for steelhead.
Gino's guide schedule is built around steelhead guiding and he manages to do it for at least nine months of the year.
His venues include summer steelhead rivers like the Klamath, Upper Rogue and Trinity Rivers and winter steelhead destinations like the Lower Rogue and the southern Oregon Coast.
Gino is a USCG-licensed Captain and he uses his jet boat on the Lower Klamath and Lower Rogue Rivers.
He is also a FFF-certified Casting Instructor.

Intermountain Trout in the Spring
Lower Klamath Spey Trips
By mid-July Gino moves down to the Lower Klamath.
Our signature "Spey Camps
" are conducted on a property owned by Gino on the banks of the Klamath River.
Gino's Lower Klamath offerings include the Spey Camps, day-trips from Klamath Glen, and multi-day trips with accommodations at Rivers West Lodge.
Gino fishes the Klamath through the first week in November.
All of Gino's Klamath River
trips are spey trips.
Upper Rogue and Trinity River in the Fall
Gino bounces back and forth between the Klamath and the Upper Rogue
during September and October.
In November and December he splits time between the Upper Rogue and the Trinity River
These are all great summer-steelhead venues.
While we only spey fish on the Klamath, we do both nymph/indicator and spey techniques on the Upper Rogue and Trinity.
Southern Oregon Coast for Winter Steelhead
Gino's winter steelhead venue is the Southern Oregon Coast
Based near Gold Beach, Gino fishes a wide variety of venues from the Smith River in California up to Port Orford, Oregon.
The various rivers in this area can be accessed via raft, walk-wade, and jet boat.
This is a great venue to chase large wild steelhead within a few miles of the ocean.

Testimonials from Gino's Clients
"This is my second trip with your company and I am sure it will not be my last.
Gino worked very hard to put us on fish but it just did not happen for an adult steelhead, which is steelhead fishing.
I did catch a very nice sea run cutthroat, which was my first which sea run, so it was exciting for me.
Overall I would rate this as an excellent experience and would not hesitate for a second to recommend Confluence Outfitters as a service and would highly recommend Gino.
Thank you for a great experience and memory."
Dennis Reasoner, Red Bluff
"The trip with Gino on the Applegate was tough catching, but excellent on the knowledge and skills taught by Gino.
I would say that the amount I learned on the trip exceeded my hopes.
So I am very happy with my experience, and consider the drift on the Applegate a real treat, with great water, scenery and very few anglers- along with the excellent company and high level of professionalism Gino brought to the table."
"We had a really great time.
Gino was patient and wise and taught us a ton.
Maybe we'll see you again in the spring!"
