Drew Griffith has been a devoted fisherman since he was a kid. He started fly fishing at age ten
with his father during family vacations in Wyoming, Montana, Utah, Colorado, and in his home
state of Arizona. He has lived in Humboldt County since 2012 where he first got bit by the
Steelhead bug. As a guide, Drew brings a wealth of experience and knowledge when it comes to
swinging flies for sea run fish on rivers such as the Eel, Smith, Klamath, Trinity, and others that will

Drew's Guide Season
California Coastal Steelhead
Drew Griffith lives on the North Coast
and fishes all of its steelhead rivers solely with a spey rod.
The season begins in December and ends at the end of March on the Eel River and at the end of April on the Smith River.
Each river system is fishable at different times depending on the timing of winter storms.
The Smith drops and clears quickly, whereas the Eel River can take a week or two to become fishable after a storm.
Drew is always up to date on current conditions and can move your trip to the destination where you have the best chance of success.
Trinity River Steelhead
Drew focuses on the lower reaches of the Trinity River
in the vicinity of Willow Creek.
He guides from Hawkins Bar downstream to the Hoopa Reservation, using his raft and accessing prime areas on foot.
Drew specializes in spey casting for Trinity steelhead.
Prime time in this area is September through November.
