I always look forward to the first few weeks on Fall River and surrounding intermountain area waters.  On technical spring creeks like Fall River and Hat Creek, the fish haven't been pressured for five months, so they are a bit more forgiving.  The Fall River System, Hat, and Baum Lake and some other venues I won't mention by name will also be in great shape if other freestone rivers are high and off color due to spring run off.  If the freestones like the Mac, Pit, and others are in shape, then the biggest dilemma is choosing which great venue to fish!  We have some of the best variety for trout fishing in the states here in Northern California, which is why I keep coming back.  I like the angling better than the more famous destination venues I've spent alot of time in, including Idaho and Montana.

 

Confluence will again be based right on the upper Fall River, and I'll be cruising the river for a week before the opener to mark every pod of fish so my clients will be right in the money at all times.
