I had a very nice day on the river today with George from Pleasanton.  We spent the day on he lower river where we enjoyed great scenery, good fishing and lots of solitude.  Fishing was best for us in the morning, with fish coming to a brown rubberlegs and a variety of standard nymphs.  George got a nice grab on a caddis dry, too.  The highlight of our day came as we were floating through one of the deepest holes.  A giant sturgeon came up to the surface and rolled just ten feet from the boat!  That was a first for me.  It looked  about as big as I am!  We got a great look at it before it headed back down into the depths.
