Trinity River: , by Andrew Harris: Multi-Species Day: 3 stars

I guided Frank and Jeff from the Sacramento area on the Trinity today.  It was a cold morning in the canyon and the fish weren't very grabby to start with.  Our luck improved when the sun came out. Jeff got the first hookup right after lunch.  It was his first steelhead ever and it made a huge jump to show us how big it was while simultaneously throwing the hook.  It was a good battle, but the fish got the best of us.  Our next fish was a sucker.  It's a rare occasion to hook and land a sucker on the Trinity.  The last one I remember was at least three years ago.  Frank got hot late in the day, landing a nice 5 lb buck steelhead and then a small salmon, too.  Our best flies were the feather duster, Fox's October caddis poopah, and another one I won't mention by name.
