I will be featured on April Vokey's very popular new television show Shorelines, which appears on the World Fishing Network this next week.  On Dish TV its channel 394, I'm not sure about other cable or satellite tv networks.  The show features myself with good fishing buddies Darcy Bacha and Eric Jackson doing our thing in British Columbia.Check it out! Saturday at 8:30am/5:30pm/10pmTuesday at 5pm/9pmWednesday at 8am   All the rivers on the Coast are dropping fast, and should be in great condition this weekend.  My client hooked two yesterday...

We had 3 guests at Eagle Canyon today.  They caught good numbers of fish despite high winds.  Melanie from Cottonwood caught the biggest rainbow trout of her life today!

I guided Mike and Kathleen the last few days on the lower Rogue, they each hooked a dime bright steelhead today! This was the highlight for the past several days where fishing has been tough. Rain is coming tomorrow, which will help conditions, particularly on the smaller rivers which are low and clear.

The Steelheading on the Trinity through the month of January has been fairly solid, the month started with some of the best fishing of the year and fresh winter steelhead have continued to filter in throughout the month. The weather has remained mild and looks like we have some rain on the way which should pick the fishing up a bit. Looking like the Steelheading should hold up through February and February typically has some of the best dry fly action of the year for both big wild browns and the occasional Steelie !

Our host Sam says fishing was really tough all morning.  In the afternoon the fish went on the grab and white minnow patterns were the ticket.

I had my first winter steelhead guide trip yesterday on the Southern Oregon coast with Tony from Grants Pass. He hooked a nice wild hen on his 10th cast a mile away from tidewater, and it instantly ran him into his backing with an impressive series of leaps and cartwheels. Gotta love chrome winter fish. He hooked another later in the day, but we didn't bring it to hand. We worked on his speycasting and angling skills throughout the day, and rarely saw any other anglers. Pretty awesome start to the season. We could use some rain to get the smaller rivers into shape, but the larger coastal rivers will get a few fish moving up every day, you just have to cover water and fish well to connect with these insane coastal fish. I don't have many available dates left for Oregon or the Olympic Peninsula, so book soon if you are interested. It's going to be a great season.

We had a really fun day on the Trinity today.  My clients Tom and Mike both landed wild steelhead.  The highlight of the day was the dry fly fishing, though.  Mike hooked and landed a 20 brown on a very long cast and a very nice drift.  Tom landed a rainbow and they both had several other eats on dries.  We saw a lot of march browns size 12-14 plus some smaller mayflies today.

Here are photos of our guests today at Eagle Canyon.  Our host Sam says thathot flies the last few days have been white minnow patterns (flashy=good) and chartreuse zonkers/buggers.  If indicator fishing, small midges (zebra, blood, etc).

The Trinity River is fishing fair right now.  We're hooking adult fish each day, but not many.  Some days we get good numbers of half-pounders, too.  We had some great dry fly action on half-pounders at lunchtime yesterday.  Check out these photos from the last two days.

I have just opened up some late January and early February dates for the Southern Oregon Coast.  Early reports from Gino are very, very good...he has been getting them and rain is in the near forecast, so next week should provide good conditions.  To get fired up on winter steelhead, check out the link to a fun short video below and shoot me an e mail to talk more about chasing winter steelhead in the Pacific Northwest. I also have just a few days left available for the Olympic Peninsula in March, contact me soon if you want a shot at the biggest winter steelhead on earth.

I just finished up a 3-day trip with fellow guide Jay Cockrum.  Fishing on the Trinity has been fair to good.  We hooked adult fish every day plus a fair number of half-pounders and browns.  Adult steelies are spread out throughout the system and you have to cover a lot of water to catch them.  We actually hooked 3 out of one spot a couple days ago, but that has been the exception, not the rule.  The fish are mostly fresh and wild right now.

The 2015 season at Eagle Canyon is underway!  Streamers are producing well in the mornings while small nymphs & midges seem to take over in the afternoon. Nothing beats the rush of seeing a  malicious  15 pound 'bow create a wake as it chases your fly. Chartreuse zonkers and flashback P.T.'s (size 16-18) have been working well lately. If you have any questions or inquiries don't hesitate to shoot me an email. Tight Lines.

Katie and I just got back from a very successful Sacramento ISE Show.  It was great to see many of our clients, old and new.  We now have very few weekend spots left.  The following dates are all open FOR 2 ANGLERS ONLY: January 24th, February 7th, March 1st and 22nd.  These are the only weekend dates we have left, so if you need a weekend date don't delay.  There are still plenty of weekdays that are wide open, too.
