Northern California has a great variety of trout fisheries. Whether you like raging freestone rivers, technical spring creeks, or fishing from a drift boat, we can hook you up, literally!

Additional Destinations:
• Klamath River:
The Klamath River near the Oregon border has an excellent hatch of salmonflies and golden stoneflies in the spring. Action peaks in May and June, with rainbows readily rising to the surface throughout the day. We float the river in drift boats, casting large dries towards the banks.
• Yuba River
The Yuba River is a tailwater river near Marysville. The Yuba has excellent dry fly fishing for wild rainbows, and seasonal fishing for steelhead in the Fall and Winter. Best times are September through May. We float from the Highway 20 bridge to a private takeout at the Daguerre Dam.
• Keswick Reservoir
Keswick Reservoir is a small impoundment below Shasta Lake. It has great fishing for rainbows and the occasional brown. We use a powerboat on Keswick and fish with streamers, nymphs, and dries. Best times are fall, winter & spring.
• Baum Lake
Baum Lake is a small impoundment on Hat Creek. It's open year round and is a favorite winter destination for trout fishers suffering from cabin fever. There are hordes of hatchery fish plus numerous large wild rainbows and browns. There are parts of Baum Lake that can be fished from the shore, but we usually use drift boats.

License Requirements:
• In California you will need a freshwater fishing license. When fishing for steelhead you will also need a Steelhead Catch Report Card. For more information, visit the Department of Fish and Game's Sportfishing Licenses page.

Gear Recommedations:
• Trout Trips: A six weight is the most commonly used rod for nymphing from a drift boat, and a five weight is the most popular for dry fly fishing and general wade fishing. We do have some small trout streams where a rod as small as a three weight can be used, but most of the trout fishing is done with four, five and six weight rods.
