Aspiring guides have many options when it comes to guide schools.
Take a closer look, though, and you will quickly discover that most of these programs are
either rowing schools or week-long fishing trips masquerading as schools.
The Confluence Outfitters Guide School is a true guide school for aspiring guides only.
We will teach you what you need to know to succeed as an independent guide or as part of a team of guides working for a fly shop, lodge or outfitter.
Field sessions include dry fly and nymphing techniques for spring creeks and freestone rivers, teaching casting, and rowing a drift boat.
Classroom sessions include first aid, marketing yourself, guide licenses, liability & permits, teaching and learning styles, and how to make a living as a fishing guide.
Our goal is to give you
a solid foundation of fly fishing skills, the ability to teach those skills in a guided fishing or
clinic environment, and the knowledge to chart a course toward becoming a successful fly
fishing guide. During this intense 7-day program you will be exposed to many guides with
varying perspectives on their profession. You will learn the techniques used to catch selective
trout wherever they’re found. Most importantly, you’ll get plenty of chances to be the guide
and learn what it’s all about.
The lead instructors for the Confluence Guide School are Andrew Harris and Gino Bernero.
Andrew and Gino have taught over one hundred aspiring guides over the past eight years of running guide schools.
They will be joined by fellow year-round trout and steelhead guides Jon Hazlett and Dax Messett.
There will also be guest speakers throughout the week.
