The rivers of the Olympic Peninsula originate from a lush green pristine rain forest in the corner of the Pacific Northwest. Through this magnificent forest run some of the finest rivers in the world to catch a wild winter steelhead with a spey rod. This is not a place to come in hopes of catching many steelhead, but to catch the steelhead of a lifetime and experience the beauty of the stunning Olympic Peninsula's famed rivers. These rivers offer superb swing water and are famous for their large, wild winter fish. Prime time on the Hoh, Bogey, and Sol Duc are February, March and April. Bookings are very limited for this special venue, and only spey casting techniques are utilized here since day one.

Gear Recommendations for the Olympic Peninsula
Rods, Reels & Lines: We use 7-8wt spey rods on the OP. We fish Skagit lines and MOW tips.
Leaders, Tippet & Indicators: We usually use 12-15# Maxima tippet. Tapered leaders are not necessary.
Waders & Boots: We use chest-high breathable waders. Spiked wading boots are recommended, but not absolutely necessary. Make sure to bring your own wading belt.
Season
February, March and April are the prime months for winter steelheading for wild fish on the Olympic Peninsula.
Flies:
Your favorite winter steelhead flies from 2-4 inches
  • “Jerry’s Intruders” and “Dirty Hoh” from Aqua Flies
  • Senyo’s “Ai” and “OCD” series from Aqua Flies
  • Egg Sucking leeches of all varieties
Sample Itinerary
Meeting Time & Place: Totally condition dependent.
Vehicle Considerations: Typically we have our clients ride with us in our own vehicles and we hire a shuttle.
Wading difficulty: The wading on these rivers is mostly over cobble bottoms and not overly challenging, except for the Sol Duc.
Multiple Fisheries in one Day: There are many rivers on the OP. We are always on the hunt for the best water conditions. In a full day of fishing we might visit two or more different rivers.
Length of the Day: Most full days conclude when it is time to call it.
