North Umpqua River Overview
Most steelheaders reserve a special place in their heart for the North Umpqua. It is one of the few places where anglers can sight-fish to steelhead throughout the late summer and fall. The fish are large and are known for their propensity to rise to swinging dry flies. This is not a numbers fishery; first-time visitors should be happy to hook a fish or two in a day of fishing.
